The Bushkill Creek is a tributary to the Ashokan Reservoir which is a part of the West of Hudson New York City’s drinking watershed. The streambank was damaged during Hurricane Irene, and Tropical Storm Lee in 2011. The project called for implementation of bioengineered stream restoration techniques to mitigate the eroded streambank. The purpose of implementing bioengineered techniques was to replace emergency rip-rap that had been placed along the streambank in response to the storm damage that occurred. The bioengineering techniques decrease the velocity along the streambank which help reduce erosion. Some bioengineering techniques used in this project were live stakes, trench packing with peat moss and live fascines.
