HLD was retained as the site/civil engineer to provide design and construction support services for the Round House at Beacon Falls project, which is a site that sits on approximately 9 acres of land near the intersection of Main Street and East Main Street and Fishkill Creek in the City of Beacon, and consists of the renovation and adaptive re-use of several existing buildings and the construction of new buildings, in addition to landscaping and other general improvements to the site (grading, utility, etc.). The design was approved by the City, and construction of the phased project is on-going. The mixed use consists of a restaurant, 58 room hotel, day spa, event space, artist live/work units and 78 residential units. The existing site infrastructure was removed and replaced with new water mains, sewer mains, gas mains and a stormwater management system. A SWPPP was developed for the site that employed the use of green infrastructure practices consisting of bioretention areas, infiltration basins, stormwater planters, pervious pavement, and green roofs. The project gained LEED silver certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). The approval process also required a complete evaluation and analysis of the City’s south sewer interceptor, one of the two main trunk lines that lead to the City’s wastewater treatment facility, in order to obtain sign-off from the Dutchess County Department of Health.
